DOCTOR WHO (Vol 3) #1 (ANDY DIGGLE: WRITER, MARK BUCKINGHAM: ARTIST) Between now and Christmas, fans of Doctor Who are without their beloved Doctor. The first half of Season 7 has given us a slightly darker Doctor as well as the departure of...

Bat-ladies Zero Reviews

It has been roughly two months since my last review, but that’s only because I was pretty busy with a 6 week trip to the United States to visit family, go to Star Wars Celebration 6, and for Dragon Con! I was having a good time, so I’m not going to apologize to my 3-4 readers. (All of whom I probably saw over my trip and most likely gave you some verbal reviews of stuff I was reading. How can you complain when I literally brought you your reviews half-way around a planet in person?!) This week I’m taking a look at a few of DC’s zero issues. Particularly, those focusing on female leads....

Review: Bandette #1

BANDETTE #1 (PAUL TOBIN: WRITER, COLLEEN COOVER: ARTIST) Bandette is one of the first titles to be released by creator-owned comics imprint, MonkeyBrain Comics. If you are not a reader of digital comics, then you might have to wait some time for a print release. MonkeyBrain Comics are all exclusively released through Comixology. Bandette #1 is only 99 cents and you get 13 pages of content. Not a bad deal when compared to physical comic prices and page count. To start, I love the art in this book. Coover’s use of subdued tones for the backgrounds really helps to make the focus of each panel...

The Amazing Spider-Man is Spectacular

Review for The Amazing Spider-Man It’s not everyday that a movie makes its way to theaters in Japan before the US release. The Amazing Spider-Man is an exception, and it is certainly an exceptional movie. The film stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker / Spider-Man and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy with a support cast including Sally Field, Martin Sheen, and Denis Leary. The casting decisions made were excellent, and the on screen chemistry between Garfield and Stone is amazing (cheap pun)! The two really sell it in the awkward yet humorous bumbling that follows when Peter Parker tries to ask...

Marvel Comic Reviews for June 27th Releases

Marvel Comic Reviews – June 27th As this is my first review post, I’ll lay out a few things. I am just one guy, and I don’t read every book that comes out. I pick up a few Marvel Books, but I mostly read DC, Valiant, and some random titles from other publishers. I’ll be posting reviews for each in separate threads for easier readability. I’ll be looking at 4 things when I do my reviews: Story, Characters (and development), Art, and Accessibility. By ‘accessibility’ I am looking at the book from a new reader perspective. Is the book a good jumping on...
