Comic Book Challenge Day 24

Comic Book Challenge Day 24: Dream Character Team Up Hawkeye & Green Arrow It’s nothing special, but I’d love to see a crossover done by Matt Fraction with these two characters. Maybe they get sucked into some temporal rift thingy, but totally ignoring that they would end up have a shooting contest and trying to one-up each other with their trick arrows. I think it’d be a fun book to read. That’s all for today.

Comic Book Challenge Day 23

Comic Book Challenge Day 23: Favorite Artist Mark Bagley When I was a kid I loved Bagley’s work on Spider-Man books, and even today I still enjoy his work on Fantastic Four and his run on Ultimate Spider-Man. There are so many artist that I really dig, but I went with the one I’ve seen the most, and consistently loved throughout the years. He was the first artist I ever had sign a comic (way back years ago at Heroes Con). Honorable mentions to Esad Ribic, Carmine Infantino, Jack Kirby, Jeff Lemire, Greg Capullo, David Aja, & Andrea...

Comic Book Challenge Day 22

Comic Book Challenge Day 22: A Comic Book Second Volume Which Disappointed You ???? I’m really not even sure what today’s topic is supposed to mean. Is it the second volume as in the second arc of a series? Or a series that starts with a #1 issue, but is the second time for a series to use the title? I am thinking it is the latter, so that is how I will answer. I would have to say that DC’s New 52 was a disappointment for me. There are some great series over there (Batman, Aquaman, Animal Man, Swamp Thing), but so many titles have been such a let down. Some of the biggest let...

Comic Book Challenge Day 21

Comic Book Challenge Day 21: Favorite Writer Jeff Lemire / Brian Michael Bendis Wow, this was a really really hard to decision to reach. There are so many good writers out there both past and present. I decided to go with current writers, since I have read more work from the past 8 years than past works. Jeff Lemire is a writer than really gets characters. He gets to the core of who the are, and brings out deep emotions and feelings in his story. His work on Frankenstein & Animal Man raised the bar. Even when the “Rot World” crossover dipped and dragged on,...

Comic Book Challenge Day 20

Comic Book Challenge Day 20: Favourite super power or skill Teleportation I’ve spent hours and days thinking about this as I walk home from the station or while riding the train around Tokyo. Teleportation would just be a cool power to have for getting around. Even with super speed or flight, I could get anywhere instantly. In a fight you can port behind, on top of, or to the side of an opponent. If you wanted to fly you could just teleport across the sky really fast, and maybe with the momentum it would feel like flying. Flying and speed were close runner ups, but I chose teleportation...

Comic Book Challenge Day 19

Comic Book Challenge Day 19: Comic book city/universe you wish you lived in Saga / Sextillion Warning: This post ain’t for small kids. I spent along time thinking about which city in the DC or Marvel universes I would like to live in, but they all seemed to be real shitty places to live. Building are always getting destroyed or supervillains are throwing around poisonous gas. I figure if I’m gonna live in a place that is dangerous, I might as well choose one that let’s me be a degenerate, so if I happen to get hit by a random bullet or steel beam, at least I get to go out with...
